Education for Life: Ukrainian Context
Context

War in Ukraine

Ukraine has been engulfed in war in its southern and eastern regions (the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions) for eight years. It is now fighting for its independence in the largest conflict on the European continent since World War II.

The presence of de-occupied and frontline territories.

3,750 severely damaged or completely destroyed schools.

Compulsory interruption of education.

Safety issues.

Scheduled and emergency power outages due to massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by the Russia’s army.

Internally displaced refugees.

More than 386,000 children living abroad who remain enrolled in the Ukrainian education system.

Russia’s invaders impose fake dispositions and knowledge incompatible with European and human values on Ukrainians living in the temporarily occupied territories.
