Dear parents!
We offer you methodological recommendations for organizing your child’s educational process.
✍️ Ukrainian Language
e recommend you to start your child’s training with an emotional affirmation for success and productive work (this is the first file in the lesson materials).
Carefully read the lesson topic with your child, focus on the learning units of this lesson, and review the new material. Ask your child to set personal goals for the lesson. And at the end of the lesson, ask if they were achieved and, if not, analyze why this happened and what the child should pay attention to next time.
The sequence of tasks for mastering new material, repetition, extension, and consolidation is presented in the activity books with a printed base. Technical activities (“Camera,” “Magpie and Turtle,” “Accuracy,” etc.) are carried out in the same way as in the classroom, with the help of audio and video materials for the lessons.
If the teacher has to define a fragment of the task for additional study, parents can also define this fragment at their own discretion during the quarantine period.
We advise you to work with your child to complete the emotional intelligence development tasks, to work hard on reading skills, and to complete all of the literary text tasks. Be sure to talk with your child about what he or she has read. This will not only encourage further reading, but will also effectively develop your child’s language skills.
Use self- and peer-checking during the lesson. Change roles with your children, give them the opportunity to be the teacher, because creating assignments and questions based on the material will take your child to the highest, most creative level of mastery of the material.
We suggest ending the lesson with a song. Good luck with your child’s studies and inspiration!
✍ Mathematics
Carefully read the lesson topic with your child, focus on the learning units of this lesson, and pay the child’s attention to the new material.
We continue to perform operations with natural three-digit numbers, recall the digitization of numbers, and begin operations with multi-digit natural numbers.
Learning the multiplication and division tables by heart remains a priority. The songs about the multiplication tables, which are included in the lesson materials, help with this.
We recommend that your child always completes the math dictations given in the lessons. This type of work consists of two parts: first, an adult plays the audio file of the math dictation (Important! You try not to stop the recording), and the child writes down the answers; then the child checks himself or herself against the appropriate video file.
In addition, in each lesson, pay attention to the relationship between addition and subtraction, multiplication and division as your child completes tasks. When working with named quantities, try to achieve free conversion of simple named quantities to compound named quantities and vice versa. This can be done not only in the classroom, but also in everyday life (e.g., money transactions, time).
Pay special attention of your child to the “Doono’s Minutes” and the pages of the “Wise Taskman.” They explain the new material, provide examples of algorithms for solving new types of problems, and also give examples of how to write them down.
When working on geometric material, it is desirable to connect new knowledge with practice: to look for appropriate geometric shapes in the environment, to apply knowledge of measuring the sizes of geometric shapes.
And remember, only work that is fun is productive. Support your child, don’t scold him or her for wrong answers, but help him or her find the mistake and move on to success.
✍ “I Learn the World”
When working with the “I Learn the World” activity books, the main activity is research, and the main question is “why?”. Give your child the opportunity to explore the world around him or her. Do together the proposed experiments and formulate conclusions, give your child free rein to imagination and creativity, be a friend and assistant, then the child’s results will amaze you!
The scientific and theoretical basis of the research activity is the child’s previous experience and information from the “Adapter⎯onboard computer.” To learn new theoretical knowledge, we suggest its retelling or the game called “Scouts.” In the game, the child acts as a “scout” and is able to fulfill the most important mission ⎯to find! But what exactly the child should look for is up to you. It can be an answer to your question that needs to be found in the help text, or the end of a phrase from the text. At the same time, do not forget to encourage the little “scout.”
The “Teacher” and “Brownian Motion” tasks are very effective for reviewing and expanding knowledge. We use the video materials for the lesson and pair the child with his or her classmate. The children know what to do next.
During quarantine, fill in the game pages with your child at his or her request (children usually want to complete the tasks on these pages).
The pages on development of logical thinking are based on the lesson materials. We would like to emphasize that solving an inventive problem does not imply a single correct answer. The main thing is to formulate a contradiction and offer your child his or her own solution. Sometimes the children’s answers are better than the options realized in life.
For self- and peer-checking during the lessons, our students complete tests and answer questions. In the “Star Race” task, the letters are used to form keywords on the topic.
📍 Dear parents, remember that doing homework is a serious work of memory, will, and attention of your child. You, like your child’s teacher, are an assistant on this path. Organize your child’s workplace, follow his or her daily routine, give advice, and support him or her. But the child has to go through the path to success on his or her own.
And success will come,
🎯 when we (teachers, students, parents) are on the same team;
🎯 when we realize that the educational process cannot be effective if only one participant is motivated;
🎯 when we cooperate.
☝️ It’s time to test our interaction triangle.
Take care of yourself and your family. Good luck and inspiration!
