The implementation phase of the basic education cycle in the 7th grades of general secondary education institutions in the 2024-2025 academic year requires thorough preparation of teachers, which includes working with regulatory documents and selecting effective pedagogical tools.
For this purpose, the head of the creative group of authors on Mathematics education, professor Svitlana Dotsenko, conducted a webinar with the teachers who will work with students of the 7th grades.
During the meeting, a lot of attention was paid to the peculiarities of working with students under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine.

Key recommendations regarding the organization of Mathematics education under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine

1. First of all, it is necessary to find out where the child is.
2. The first weeks of the new school year should be dedicated to repetition.
3. During the first lessons, it is necessary to develop and discuss with the students the algorithm of actions in the event of an air raid alarm.
4. Since regression is possible under conditions of stress, the students may forget terms, the multiplication table, rules for performing actions, etc. In that situation, it is advisable to offer the students of any grade very simple oral calculation exercises, after activities for emotional stabilization.
5. Through the use of computer presentations, videos, educational software tools (Libraries of Digital Materials, Desmos Calculator), etc., it is necessary to achieve visualization of educational texts.
6. Considerable attention should be paid to patriotic education. In particular, teachers need to draw students’ attention to Ukrainian mathematicians and their contribution to the development of science.
7. Education should be focused on the application of Mathematics in real-life practical situations, in future professional activities, during the study of other school subjects.
